Decorating Your Balcony
You should consider the balcony an extension of the home, and a place where you can relax as you enjoy beverages and sunshine. It is an area that is usually decorated based on the current season or for any reason, and if you enjoy relaxing on the balcony, you can make the balcony an impressive space where friends and family will also love to hang out. Consider the following steps to decorate a balcony, and transform your ordinary outdoor space into an extraordinary place for relaxing and spending time.
Decide on a Holiday, Season, Theme, or Design. The items that you choose to decorate the balcony are dependent upon the chosen theme. During the spring and summer months, you can add vivid color and great focal accents by displaying flowers, foliage and vines in eye-catching containers and pots. During the fall season, the balcony can be adorned with small bales of hay, pumpkins and friendly scarecrows. In the winter, your outdoor space can be decorated with holiday or seasonal decor. A balcony can become a showcase that can change with each holiday and season. Decorate according to your personal preference and style, and make it a place where you can showoff with ever-changing uniqueness and creativity.
Cleaning is First. No matter the design and the way in which the balcony will be used, it is important to clean it before beginning to decorate. Remove any unnecessary items, and thoroughly sweep away any dirt and debris. In addition, wipe away any webs or dirt on vertical surfaces before you start to furnish and decorate your outdoor space. A clean space is much more inviting and comfortable.
Adding Comfortable Accessories and Seating. Seating that can be adjusted should be used because it allows for enhanced comfort of folks relaxing on the balcony. Before beginning to decorate a balcony, select outdoor seating wisely, and invest in furniture that is likely to be used instead of going for the cheapest options. You should also choose side tables that will be used to hold beverages and food. Make sure outdoor furnishings are something you will be proud to display on a balcony. Always take appropriate care of your exterior furniture and be a great investment that lasts a long time.
Decorate with Larger Pieces First. After cleaning and outfitting your balcony with furniture, decorate with larger pieces first. For example, when adding fall decor, set hay bales in corners, and use these accents as platforms for displaying pumpkins that have been carved, scarecrows, gourds, and autumn decorations. You can move and arrange smaller accessories and items once larger pieces have been placed.
Selection of Decor for the Balcony. It is not necessary to browse the seasonal aisle of big box retailers or home stores to locate just the perfect accessories to decorate a balcony. Come up with original outdoor decor that include unique flea market finds, decoys, and other items not typically used for decorating. Adorn your balcony with unique items and it will draw more interest from passersby. Best of all, you will be able to sit back and relax in an outdoor area that is well decorated and uniquely stylish.
Decorate using Lighting. Balconies are great for enjoying evenings outdoors, and a balcony that is used regularly should include outdoor lighting. You should consider multi-purpose rope lighting to illuminate the balcony area. This kind of decorative lighting can be found in various different colors and lengths, and this lighting can be extended or cut to fit any area. Rope lighting looks great when placed beneath a balcony railing or around the base. Indoor/Outdoor lights used to decorate during winter holidays are ideal for placing around outdoor displays, and they provide just the right amount of light on dark, spring, summer, fall, or winter nights. With a little bit of care, and some planning, you can create an inviting and ideal atmosphere on the balcony that will be a welcome sight at day's end.
