Choose Practical But Stylish Dinnerware
Setting a stylish and attractive dining table is an art and a beautiful dinner setting will make your dinner guests feel extra special. The trick to an attractive dining table is simplicity.
Choose dinnerware that is durable and dishwasher proof. My personal preference is for all white crockery and stainless steel cutlery in a contemporary design. Try to choose good quality crockery that is chip and scratch resistant so that it lasts.
Its important to find out if you will be able to get replacement items for your chosen dinner service or cutlery set. You can be sure that sooner or later a few of your plates and bowls will get chipped and cracked. It's really good to be able to replace the odd item without having to buy a complete new dinner service.
This is equally important for cutlery. My partner often treats the cutlery drawer as a tool box and will sometimes reach for a table knife rather than track down a screw driver. Over the years we've been together I've had to replace quite a few knives and spoons that he has chosen to use as tools. So it's good to be able to buy replacements.
Although the dinner service and cutlery are important, there is much more to setting an attractive dinner table. Glassware is also important and again I recommend simple, but stylish. Like your crockery, choose glassware that is dishwasher safe and make certain you have a good stock of glasses. I suggest that you make sure you have enough wine glasses and general purpose tumblers and maybe a few shot glasses or beer tankards if you like. Alternatively, if you enjoy a glass or three of champagne, get yourself a nice set of champagne flutes.
Some crisp table linen and table napkins are always better than paper ones. A few tasteful placemats will work for day to day use but for a dinner party you will probably want a nice table cloth and some tasteful napkins.
Choose and attractive centrepiece for your table and you will be ready to serve the food and wine. Any food cuisine such Indian food or Chinese food will work perfectly with this and also give you an opportunity to try some different red wines. But you are already onto a winner with your stylish dining table.
